Join Country/Americana songwriter Jobi Riccio on a deep dive of the songwriting techniques used in many of these timeless songs, exploring the idea of what makes a song “classic”, and workshopping your own country tunes!
October 11th 12:00-2:00PM
Songwriting Sundays: Finding Your Own Voice In Songwriting with taught by Kaia Kater
When we sit down to write a song, it can often feel difficult to write anything that feels like it’s truly coming from our “voice”. Clichés and standard chord progressions can start to feel imported and stale. But songwriting need not feel like recycling others’ songs. We all have a rich inner life and a plethora of senses to draw from (sight, smell, touch, etc). This workshop will focus on freshening the writing process and drawing from a well of writing that is uniquely yours. Among other things, the class will examine and dissect the elements of what makes a great song. Participants can expect to come away from this class with a growing library of dynamic writing as well as an analytical understanding of their craft.
Songwriting Sundays launched in September with classes taught by Freebo and Sadie Gustafson-Zook. More Songwriting Sundays classes will be announced soon.
