CENTRAL SQUARE BID LAUNCHES

CENTRAL ON AIR

LIVE STREAMING COMMUNITY PLATFORM SHARES CAMBRIDGE WITH THE WORLD

(Cambridge, MA -June 9, 2025) Cambridge’s Central Square Business Improvement District will officially launch Central On Air, its live-streaming community radio station with a Block Party at Central On Air’s studio storefront at 425 Mass. Ave in Cambridge on Saturday June 14th from 5pm-9pm.

Central On Air connects musicians—both local and national—with audiences by delivering live music programming straight from Cambridge’s downtown to homes and devices everywhere. It will share the unique spirit of Central Square with the world, while also providing support, hosting opportunities, and prioritizing the local music community within the neighborhood.

“We are unifying and amplifying the local music scene by blending an interactive, street-level experience with global live streaming,” said Erik Sarno, Central Square BID’s Program Director. ”We’re committed to fostering connections between artists and audiences, both online and in real life.

“Beginning June 14th, listeners can tune in 24/7 at centralonair.com,” continued Sarno. “Expect to see live sets by local DJs playing music of all genres. This summer, live programming will air weekdays 12-6pm, with ongoing reruns of pre-recorded sets aired in between. Whether you’re passing by our studio, watching along on the video stream, or just enjoying the tunes in your headphones, Central On Air provides a curated music

experience that offers a fresh alternative to modern streaming algorithms and traditional radio.”

For the Launch Party, DJ 7L, Saucy Lady, Big Bear, and DJ Frank White will be taking turns each hour. The afterparties will feature DJ 7L & Saucy Lady at Brick & Mortar; Big Bear at Middlesex Lounge; and DJ Frank White at Roxy’s Arcade.

Central Square continues to be a cultural epicenter where music and dance are deeply ingrained in the DNA of the neighborhood. It is the last remaining location in Greater Boston that has the legacy, legitimacy, and power to represent the sonic phenomenon that includes such diverse movements as the iconic Reggae and Hip-Hop performances at the Western Front, the small pub scene that hosted the folk rock movements of the sixties and seventies, and the nationally influential rock club venues of the 1990s and 2000s, and a vibrant and trendsetting DJ culture.

Central On Air Block Party Saturday June 14 5:00PM- 9:00PM Lafayette Square at 425 Massachusetts Ave. (After parties at Brick & Mortar 567 Mass. Ave, Middlesex 315 Mass. Ave, , and Roxy’s 292 Mass. Ave). For more information visit centralonair.com.
