Nightly Shows Run May 22 – 28
(Cambridge) Club Passim is moving its annual Memorial Day campfire Festival online this month with a special weeklong presentation of the holiday tradition. More than 75 acts are set to play including Buffalo Rose, Chris O’Brien, Lisa Bastoni, and Hayley Sabella, taking part in solo and group performances, and special in the round collaborations. Running from 5PM – 8PM every night May 22 – 28, the entire festival will be streamed online at Passim’s Facebook page and at passim.org/campfire.
Campfire started 22 years ago, and has become the single-biggest way that Passim develops new talent and celebrates the Boston area’s amazing music community. The festival traditionally runs twice a year on both Memorial and Labor Day Weekends. This Memorial Day, half of the bands playing have never played Passim before, allowing Passim to not only introduce new artists to the audience, but also introduce new artists to one another, leading to collaboration and a positive exchange of ideas.
“When we reached out to everyone scheduled to perform, they were excited that we would still be able to have campfire online,” said Matt Smith, Managing Director of Club Passim. “That really speaks to the power of the festival in terms of connecting new artists with a community of fellow musicians. The mission of campfire has always been to present new or established acts in a different way on the Passim stage.”
The streaming shows begin May 22 and run nightly from 5PM – 8PM through May 28. All shows can be viewed at passim.org/campfire.
About Passim
The mission of Passim is to provide truly exceptional and interactive live musical experiences for both performers and audiences, to nurture artists at all stages of their career, and to build a vibrant music community. Passim does so through their legendary listening venue, music school, artist grants and outreach programs. As a nonprofit since 1994, Passim carries on the heritage of our predecessors-the historic Club 47 (1958-1968) and for-profit Passim (1969-1994). We cultivate a diverse mix of musical traditions, where the emphasis is on the relationship between performers and audience and teachers and students. Located in Harvard Square, Passim serves Cambridge and the broader region by featuring local, national and international artists. Our ultimate goal is to help the performance arts flourish and thereby enrich the lives of members of our community. For a complete schedule, visit www.passim.org.
