Singer-Songwriter Jake Manzi Celebrates Debut Album ‘Whatever My Heart Allows’ March 13 at Club Passim

(Cambridge. MA – February 2, 2022) Singer-Songwriter Jake Manzi just released his first full-length album, and now he is hitting the road,  playing Club Passim on Sunday, March 13th. After years of touring festivals and clubs in the Northeast, Manzi recorded Whatever My Heart Allows with the help of  Grammy winner Don Was, Griffin & Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes), Grammy-nominated guitarist/singer Madison Cunningham, and Mikaela Davis. Kimaya Diggs is set to open. Tickets for the show are on sale now at Passim.org.

Raised in Northampton, MA, his unique brand of soft rock has earned Manzi significant acclaim, sold-out hometown shows, and opening slots for Lori McKenna, Ryan Montbleau, Chris Collingwood, and more.

Jake is known for his candid, easy stage presence, the moving stories behind his songs, and lyrics that will break your heart and make it whole again all at once. Whatever My Heart Allows is tender and restrained, brimming with latent pain, but also with hope for salvation.

Whatever My Heart Allows is a sweetly confessional union of soft rock and indie pop, the story of someone growing towards a deeper understanding of themselves. A laid-back, honest meditation on what it means to let yourself love, even when you’re afraid. With lush, sweeping string arrangements, heartachey pedal steel, vibraphone, and harp, Whatever My Heart Allows reads as a love letter from Manzi to himself—a love letter he didn’t even know he was writing.

Inspired by the acrobatic folk renderings of Joni Mitchell, Ella Fitzgerald’s jazz stylings, and Lianna LaHavas’ soulful charisma, Kimaya Diggs draws skillfully from her lineage of musical pioneers, creating a musical lane all her own, backed by mulitinstrumentalist Jacob Rosazza. With a playful presence and frank, transporting storytelling, Diggs’ mastery of her voice is the focal point of each performance, and a transfixing experience. As a teaching artist and collaborator, Kimaya has captivated audiences around the world with her sister trio, the Diggs Sisters, and Northern Harmony, performing 21 international folk styles in 27 different languages. Kimaya has written soundtracks, libretti, and themes for several plays, operas, and podcasts.

Jake Manzi will perform live at Club Passim March 13, 2022, at 7:00PM with special guest Kimaya Diggs. Tickets are $18 ($16 for members) and can be purchased at Passim.org. The show will be streamed on Passim’s Facebook and YouTube pages, as well as www.passim.org/streams
