HANDEL AND HAYDN SOCIETY TO PERFORM BACH MASS IN B MINOR

[Boston, MA – February XX, 2018] The Handel and Haydn Society continues its 2017-18 Season with two performances of the Bach Mass in B Minor on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Boston Symphony Hall. Widely considered one of the greatest musical compositions in musical history, the Handel and Haydn performance is destined to be an inspiring emotional and spiritual experience.
One of the last works composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, the Mass in B Minor was completed in 1749, one year before his death. The composition features significant choral movements, which will be performed by the Handel and Haydn Society Orchestra and Chorus, with Harry Christophers conducting, and featuring: sopranos Sarah Brailey, Margot Rood, Sonja DuToit Tengblad, Sarah Yanovitch; mezzo-sopranos Margaret Lias and Clare McNamara; contralto Emily Marvosh; tenors Stefan Reed and Steven Caldicott Wilson; and baritones Woodrow Bynum and David McFerrin. High school singers from the Handel and Haydn Society’s Collaborative Youth Concerts program will also perform as part of the concert.

Tickets for the performances are on sale now. Tickets range from $24 – $96 and may be purchased by calling 617-266-3605, visiting handelandhaydn.org or in person at 9 Harcourt Street in Boston (M-F 10 AM – 6 PM). Student and group discounts are also available. Attendees are invited to bring a nonperishable food item for collection at the hall, which will be shared with The Greater Boston Food Bank as part of Orchestras Feeding America.
