Passim To Relaunch Passim Emergency Artist Relief Fund With Live Stream Broadcast

Party to include live performance by Hank Wonder and debut Pear Fund music video featuring Bruce Cockburn

(Cambridge) Club Passim is throwing a party to relaunch the Passim Emergency Artist Relief Fund and several well-known musicians are lending a hand. Matt Smith, managing director of Club Passim, will host the event from an empty Club Passim. The party will feature a live performance by Boston-based trio Hank Wonder, and the debut of a special video featuring Bruce Cockburn, Alastair Mook, Vance Gilbert, Jane Grodin, Adam Ezra, and more performing one of Cockburn’s original songs. The PEAR Fund Relaunch Party streams online Saturday, July 18. No audience will be in attendance, but everyone can watch from home at Passim.org/pearfund.

During the PEAR Fund Relaunch Party, Smith will be showing viewers what Club Passim might look like when it reopens to the public. Smith will be joined at the club (at a safe distance) by Hank Wonder, the Boston-based trio of Annie Bartlett (fiddle and viola), Darren Buck (vocals), and Michael Loria (guitar), who will perform live.

“We wanted to give everyone at home a look at what the artist will experience,” said Matt Smith, managing director of Club Passim. “While the music will still sound fantastic, keeping socially distant on stage and in the audience will impact artists in ways many have not considered.”

Throughout the night, Smith will also highlight several of the videos that are part of the Keep Your Distance Fest, a digital music festival launched in support of the PEAR Fund. He will also debut a special video from Bruce Cockburn and several of his very talented friends which was created to support the PEAR Fund.

The PEAR Fund has provided much-needed financial relief to musicians during the Coronavirus crisis. During the first round of funding Club Passim distributed a total of $115,000 in grants to 240 artists.

Artists can apply for emergency relief at Passim.org/PEARFund.

We cultivate a diverse mix of musical traditions, where the emphasis is on the relationship between performers and audience and teachers and students. Located in Harvard Square, Passim serves Cambridge and the broader region by featuring local, national and international artists.
