(Cambridge, MA – December 13, 2018) Break out the champagne. Dwight & Nicole, the three-piece blues-soul-rock band fronted by Dwight Ritcher and Nicole Nelson, will ring in the New Year, December 31st, at the Regattabar. A decade long tradition, New Year’s Eve with Dwight &Nicole is a perennial sell-out, featuring flowing champagne, and a crowd filled with longtime regular attendees (much more like a gathering of old friends). Rising soul singer Ali McGuirk will get the party started.  Doors will open at 9:00 PM; the party begins at 9:30PM. Tickets and information are available at www.regattabarjazz.com

Ritcher and Nelson met in Boston when they were both just out of school and cutting their teeth on the local club scene. They discovered a shared love of classic blues greats like Albert King and Lighting Hopkins, covering songs by their heroes Mavis Staples, Jimmy Witherspoon and Etta James. Along the way, they have been gaining plenty of industry respect with nine Boston Music Awards, seven Boston Phoenix Awards, eight Daysie Awards, and nine New England Music Awards.

Known for their dynamic live shows and well-crafted songs, both Ritcher and Nelson possess strong natural voices that stop you dead in your tracks. They are also both captivating performers, multi-instrumentalists, and strong songwriters. Ritcher plays a Gibson Flying V guitar. Picking it up as a teenager in Long Branch, NJ, he has never played anything else. Nelson, a gifted singer and classical violinist from New York City, has described the bass as her first real love. Powerhouse drummer Ezra Oklan solidifies their sound.

Dwight & Nicole’s 2018 EP Electric Lights was recorded live to analog tape with multi-Grammy Award Nominated producer Joel Hamilton (Aaron Neville, The Meters, The Black Keys) at Studio G in Brooklyn, NY. Hamilton undoubtedly captures their sound and live energy. Two additional songs have been added to a special vinyl edition of the EP, which will be out in December. Electric Lights has also just landed them their first major label distribution deal through Orchard/Sony Music, and an Independent Music Award nomination.

Winner of two 2018 Boston Music Awards including Blues Artist of the Year and Best Live Ongoing Residency of the Year, opener Ali McGuirk has been carving out her own career captivating audiences with her unique blend of hypnotic R&B grooves, folk songwriter lyricism, classic soul delivery and a gravelly blues temperament.

Located in Harvard Square at the Charles Hotel, The Regattabar is one of the longest running jazz clubs in New England, and since 1985, every Dec 31st, they are known to throw one of the classiest NYE party of the year.
